» MR DARCY

Nothing beats a litte bit of reading before heading off to bed after a night of studying.. Well, actually reading in bed does, haha!

This book is seriously the best book ever written; it's definitely one of the greatest love stories. And that's the reason why it's my favorite.

If you haven't read it, you definitely should!

Good night/good morning (confusion on that part haha)

» HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM

I spent the day with my books and family, and had a nice day in - sometimes its very needed, specially on birthdays (I'd rather do something cosy at home then go out wearing an uncomfortable outfit haha - well, sometimes).

Since it's my mothers birthday, we celebrated her with dinner and cake - obviously a present as well! Even though a present doesn't necissarily need to be something material, it's nice to recieve something you wouldn't get yourself from time to time. Specially mothers, since they tend to think about everyone else before they think about themselves and their needs.

Happy birthday mom. We all love you dearly ♥

» TAKE THREE

Yup, still obsessed

Good morning lovelies!
It's such a beautiful day today and I've got a list of things to be done - ugh. But for now I'm going to enjoy the gorgeous weather from the kitchen windows and have my delicious smoothie (perhaps a bit cold to have breakfast outside).

Have a wonderful day!
xox,
Laila

» OBSESSION TAKE TWO

I totally had a smoothie for breakfast today as well - they're very refreshing! The downside is that I won't have them when I've got early morning classes since they're not very quick to prepare (I usually have my breakfast on the go on mornings like that).

The plan for today?
I just want to finish up studying, have a delicious cup of tea (a friend got me new flavores a couple weeks ago and I have yet to try them!), and watch a movie.
Perfect Friday.

I wish you all a wonderful day!
xox,
Laila

» AN OBSESSION FOR SMOOTHIES

My delicious breakfast

I love smoothies; you get all the nutrients from many fruits served in one drink - delicious and great for your body!

Well, that and the fact that the weather is increadible today is awesome! It makes you want to go to the beach or have a barbecue - love it! Let's pray that it won't go grey on us anytime soon.

Now I'm off to prepare for my upcoming exam.

What are you lovelies doing today?
xox,
Laila

» AFTERNOON TEA

Nothing beats home baked goodies, mojitos and friends. It truly is one of the best ways to celebrate, well, life - I think we don't celebrate our friendships enough.

Mona and I spent hours baking two weeks ago - sounds way too difficult than it was - and thankfully it turned out to be delicious, at least that's what we were told.
We served mini pizzas, sandwiches and desserts and we even wrote some dorky signs on each baked goodie, just to clarify what it was - as I said, dorky.

Oh and I'm totally craving the peanut butter cups - they taste exactly like Reese's; heaven!

What have you guys been up to?
xox,
Laila

» IN THE CAPITAL

I went to the capital during the weekend for my friends engagement. Although I've been to Stockholm before, I've never had the opportunity to walk around and explore the beautiful city. Thankfully, we managed to squeeze in some sight seeing. We went to the castle, to "gamla stan" (obviously since the castle is "in" it, if I'm not mistaken), to "stadsteatern", went on a boat - you name it! It really is a beautiful city, but there's no place like home.

The importance isn't in what you do, but who you do it with - and I'm lucky to have such wonderful people in my life ♥

What did you guys do during the weekend?

Laila

» AWKWARD HAND

I finally removed the shellack (using acetone and foil - super easy!), and painted my nails with a grey-ish color that resembles the color of blue-tack. I have yet to decide if I like it or not.
I tried taking a picture of my nails, but since my hand looked awkwardly big and child-looking (?) in every single picture, I (actually you) needed the filter to make it look kind-of-acceptable - well, at least at the very edge of being acceptable (making everything so dramatic, but what's new?).

Anyhow, the reason for this post wasn't to discuss my awkward hand or blue-tack nails. I simply found myself very un-motivated, but had to (still have to) finish a couple excercises. Since I always watch a movie/tv-show/listen to something (obviously something I've watched before to not get distracted) when I study (otherwise I get bored and will have a break every five minutes), I have to suggest watching Legally Blonde if you're in the same situation. It's great for motivation!

» WEIRD LOOKING BLOG?

The reason for the somewhat weird(er) looking blog-design is because of my current work on a new blog-design (well, more like changing up a design I like - easier said than done!).

» LATE TEA

Because of my horrendous sleeping schedule, I'm watching the Vampire Diaries and having delicious tea in the hopes of getting tired - and falling asleep!

Don't mind my horribly grown out nails though (my thumb doesn't look half as bad as the rest of them!). Perhaps this picture will motivate me enough to fix them.

For now, I wish you all a lovely night.

Laila

» FREQUENTLY WRITTEN

Picture from unknown source.

As for my lack of posts (feels like I say - write - this very frequently), I've been combining exam studying with no sleep, which in the end resulted in me not falling asleep before 3 am. Which isn't the greatest. So I've basically rubbed my circadian rhythm (hello humanphysiology, fancy meeting you). But I've got that somewhat under control now - woop woop!

I won't make any promises about writing daily posts, but I'll try - again (at least twice a week). I've got some reviews coming up, and perhaps a vlog from christmas break (if I manage editing it) - well, if you're interested in that, otherwise I'd be pretty embarrassed putting it out there haha. If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me!

Motivation starts and ends with you perhaps something to live by this week.

Laila

» BECAUSE WE'RE BEAUTIFUL

I've tried writing this post way too many times this past week, and somehow, I couldn't bring myself to post it.
Maybe because I was ashamed for allowing myself, even for a brief moment, to feel less about myself
But isn't that how we function?
Someone tells us that we're not beautiful enough for them, or for the society we're living in, and we believe them or question ourselves.
Am I not good enough?
Is there something wrong with me?

When it strikes, people will either start whispering about the situation you've been awkwardly placed in, pity you or assure you that you're good enough. It's like you're walking around with a big stamp that says 'feel sorry for me'.
That's worse than being told that you're not good enough.

To answer the questions above; you're more than good enough, it's society that's ugly. Beauty comes in different colors, shapes and sizes - that's what makes beauty beautiful.
If someone has a problem with that, so what? One person might think you're the ugliest person alive, while another might think you're gorgeous. And if someone wants to, for some reason, tell you that you should do this or that to make yourself more desireable, screw them!

If they couldn't have the decency to at least tell you whatever they want to change about you (which is bisarre!) in private (and not publicly where everyone could clearly hear them), you shouldn't pay any attention to their sharp words. Because in this situation, the same person have tried breaking other people down as well, but never succeeded. I mean, bullies have issues of their own, that they take out on people - or more like attack in this case. The best thing to do is smile and walk away. I won't change myself to satisfy others, and neither should you.

Isn't there a saying that says if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?
Because I am beautiful, and so are you ♥

» SOOTHING ATMOSPHERE

This is the second incense (scented stick sounds better, but hello new word!) I've burnt today. I simply love the scent of it!
Along with scented candles and delicious body sprays (that I spritz in my room), it makes a great atmosphere for studying - or relaxing (or both). Well, you should be pretty relaxed while studying, to make it less stressful.

Now I'm going to hunt some more scents down! (now a.k.a tomorrow/in a year)
Wish me luck! (as if I'm applying to the military..)
Oh the sarcasm..

» TWENTYFOURTEEN

Another year has passed by - quickly, I might as well add.
It has been a year of great laughter and greater cry. I've learnt valuable lessons and made new friendships. But most importantly, I've enjoyed life to its fullest and gotten to know myself.

Although the previous year hasn't been my year in that specific definition, I've been blessed with a life filled with amazing people, that I'm truly honored to call friends and family - which has been the greatest gift.

This brings me to my new years resolution which I, for the first time in a thousand years, am left without!
I decided that my only resolution is to just be, and whatever this year is to bring, it will and I'll leave it be. Life isn't supposed to be perfect, which I've previously tried to make of it; it's supposed to be beautiful, and beauty isn't perfect.

With those words, I wish you a beautiful twentyfourteen ♥
Love,
Laila

» THE LAND OF LOCH-NESS

Spontaneously, me and my sister booked a trip, and three days later we arrived - after what felt like many stops.
Since my intention is to show you guys what I'm doing during my stay here in other ways than blogging, I'll keep this short and wish you (belated) merry christmas and happy holidays!

Laila

» VIRGIN MOJITOS

Picture from my Instagram

I just got home from a fun evening with gorgeous ladies and delicious food - a big thank you! ♥

Sometimes, a joyful night with people you love is more than enough to cheer you up and turn that frown upside down. Taking a moment from your oh-so-busy (not really) day to be thankful for everything and everyone in your life is one thing I'll definitely put more pressure on doing - it really makes you happy!

As I can barely keep my eyes open, and I'm loosing control of that cold of mine, I'll end this post here.

Good night (or morning) lovely readers
xox,
Laila

» BAKING

Apparently I've got a ridiculous love for baking. Chocolate chip ookies, gingerbread cookies and the hideous creatures above, were all on my to-bake-list, and they all turned out to be very delicious - hurray!

As for the actual blogging part of the blog, I've been pretty distant lately, primarily because of my neverending battle of keep running this blog or shutting it down, and because of my schoolwork - which always comes first.
Although I've debated of shutting it down, I've planned some fun upcoming posts and I'll take it from there. Maybe I should scheduele a couple days of the week for blogging, and make it happen - a new years resolution perhaps, haha!

Since I've kept this blog running for a couple years now, with more readers, I'd like to know what you want to read more of - any special requests?

Laila

» 11.12.13

This is a VERY edited picture. I love the colors of it.

People (including myself) are obsessed with dates, and with 12.12.12 being the last official 'special' date, we are now excited about today being 11.12.13.
Maybe it has something to do with our obvious addiction to social media, that we feel the need to document every detail of our lives - me included.

Something happens, and we document it with a picture - it's simple. Who needs a journal when everything is documented on Instagram; which is basically our lives through pictures.

Although I'm astonished with how technology has developed, and how fast we went through having huge phones with antennas to our beloved iPhones, I still miss our no-technology way of living. The joy of recieving a letter from your friend was beyond the joy I now feel to certain shopping addictions.

Call me old fashioned, but that's the number one thing I miss about my childhood (hello old lady!).
If only life could be that simple.

What are you most nostalgic about?

Laila

» FOR THE LOVE OF SPARKLE

When the world has lost its sparkle, lend it yours.

I love everything sparkly! Having had a relationship with necklaces as far as I can remember, I've built up some interesting necklace-stacks over the years - some pretty and some not-so-pretty.

Although I still haven't worn this one - which I believe is because of the rainbow colors in it; too colorful for my very black-and-white choice of living - I put it on the mannequin until I find a better spot for it.

It's silly though, finding joy in items.

Laila

» GREY

So life isn't only black and white, is it? I mean, we've got our creams, off whites, off blacks and greys too, don't we?

I didn't go to the Isabel Marant x H&M release. The reason for it isn't that I didn't like the collection. It's beautiful. But it's nothing I'd actually wear - take the Margiela x H&M shirt I got as an example. I've worn it, maximum, thrice. Doesn't that say it all?

Bottom line is that even though you might find something to be eager about at one point or another, life gives you a reality check and it turns out that it wasn't something you could benefit from - which is great, if you ask me. Because after all, life isn't only black and white, we've got our greys as well.

Laila
