» IF ONLY
An old picture
"If only I had known how very dangerous love was,
I wouldn't have loved.
If only I had known how very deep the sea was,
I wouldn't have set sail.
If only I had known my very own ending,
I wouldn't have begun"

» WAFFLES
I don't know about you, but for me that's a perfect morning.
Since I'm off today - exam-studying - I figured that I'd treat myself. Hi waffles!
It's a big bonus that it's raining outside - only a bonus when you look at it from the window. I don't really enjoy walking in rain. So now I'm gonna catch up on some series, have my hot coco (another thing I love about rainy weather) and then make my brain exercise with exam studies.
Have a wonderful Friday!

» STOP TIME
Isn't it the most beautiful clock you've ever seen? Très magnifique (yup, totally thinking that I'm a cool cause I wrote in french.. Soooo cool. Grow up Laila?)
Seriously guys; where did time go?
I feel like it's going by weeks and not minutes.
I am still buried under tons of notes and will most probably pull an all-nighter.. Oh the sacrifices we do for uni.
BUT, on the other hand, there's a livestream of the Alexander Wang x H&M launch event tonight (or tomorrow? - depends on how you look at it). I'm kind of dying to see what to expect in november. Hopefully tons of black.
Will you head over to hm.com to watch the livestream?

» EID MUBARAK
I am wearing a necklace from Zara and a shirt from Mango (seriously in love with this shirt; so perfect!).
Eid Mubarak to all you lovely readers.
I hope you've all had a great day! I've spent the day with my family and yummy baked goodies.
Now I'm off to sleep (blaming it on age).
Love,
Laila
» TWENTY
Today I turned twenty. An officially grown-up-age - but hey, age is just a number.
In the midst of this age crisis, I've been reflecting upon the year that's now gone by (or rather, ran by - seriously where did time go?). It's been a year of laughter and cry, a year of new experiences and getting past old ones. It's basically been another blessed year I've shared with my family and dear friends.
What did I wish for this year?
I have everything I could ever ask for and more. Well I might have wished for the bracelet featuring in the photo above, but you get my point.
A big thank you to all you lovely readers. I love each and everyone of you.
xox,
One-year-older Laila (because dramatic is my middle name)
» EARLY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Last weekend I was surprised with this gorgeous cake (made by my very talented cousin) at the spa - my skin was in serious need of scrubbing!
It was followed by a brunch the day after (hello sleepovers!) and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday (even though I hate surprises). So thank you beauties!
I have promised you guys a more frequent update on the blog, which haven't been going so well - I blame it on studying. I have a video coming up (haven't put anything up from Paris!) and I might do a tag (video or text - don't know yet). What do you guys think?
Happy Friday!

» MY PARISIAN DREAM
A dream. There's always a place we seek within ourselves whenever we need to get away. Mine is Paris.
The city of lights made me believe in dreams again.
As we were sitting at a pizza restaurant in front of the Eiffel Tower, we were astonished by the kindness of tourists and Parisians. When I say that everyone talks to everyone, I mean that everyone talks to everyone.
In Montmartre we were enchanted by the beautiful view and completely mesmerazed, again, by the kindness of people. An Italian man, older than my father, sat across from us at a crepés place and was talking about everything from French politics to why there was so many Italians in France. He was a painter and had lived in Paris for more than twenty years. When he had finished chatting, he went his way and we went ours. This happened all around Paris, people chat and then everyone keeps going with their days.
A few weeks ago the same thing happened to us when we were at a - believe it or not - pizza restaurant in Lilla torg. A Canadian couple started chatting with us about life, heritage and how to give tips. It made my day.
You see, the Canadians we met on the train to Versailles, the Italians at Montmartre and the couple in Lilla torg all have one thing in common - kindness. It doesn't take much effort to smile to people, or to greet the person next to you on the bus. Because if we're not kind towards other people, how do we expect to be treated with kindness?
Paris made me see the best in people, and it brought out the best in me. That's why I fell in love with it.
Bisou bisou,

» FUN THINGS
So this video is hilarious. These guys are basically bringing the YouTube-comedy-challenge concept to Sweden, and I'd love to see how this will evolve. Although I like the English/American versions better, I believe that these guys have great potential.
» PARIS, JE T'AIME
I just got back from Paris yesterday and I'm completely in love. It's one of the most magical, enchanting cities I've ever been to, and I'm sure that I'll be seeing more from it.
The city of lights - and love.
But a trip isn't all about destination, and I had the pleasure of going with my two best friends - which made the whole Paris experience a whole lot better.
I'll write a more detailed Paris post, with pictures from my camera. But for now; I'll leave you with phone-pics.
At the airport. I lived in these shoes - so comfy!
So you can't really stroll around at Champs Élysées without a coffee break at Ladurée, can you? So overrated though - but heavenly macarons.
A marathon kind of day. We walked from (before) the Eiffel tower to Notre Dame and back - with stops at the love-lock bridge, Musée d'Orsay etc. Like 18 km (if not more). My feet are still sore.
Sacré coeur. Need I say more?
Chateau Versailles
"There is never any ending to Paris and the memory of each person who had lived in it differs from that of any other. We always returned to it no matter who we were or how it was changed or with what difficulties, or ease, it could be reached. Paris was always worth it and you received return for whatever you brought to it. But this is how Paris was in the early days when we were very poor and very happy."

» ALL IT TAKES IS WHITE PAINT
You know how a new hair color can make you feel like you're on top of the world? You should definitely try painting your walls! Oh my God - it's such a relief!
Partly because my walls were hideously covered with floral wallpaper (not hating on my florals, but I'm sick of it!). And because I felt like I needed change - more like longed for it actually. I mean, it actually feels like I've painted over my life - the bad bits about it (acting all oh-so-dramatic). Please tell me you know what I'm ranting about!
Fifty coats later, I'm extremely satisfied with my wall and can go on vacation with a happy slate. Well, I still need to put in my furniture and get some other things sorted out, but that's another story.

» JARDIN DU TAKI
I woke up at six thinking that I started working at seven. Turns out I work at two today. FML?
But I've been hanging out in the jardin all morning, and I'm in love with the weather!
Let's hope that the sun keeps shining all summer long - or what's left of it anyways.
Now I'm gonna enjoy what feels like a mini vacation before I have to get ready for work.

» FROM A TWENTY-TO-BE
A very edited photo I took on a plane.
Your twenties are for traveling, a lot.
Your twenties are for switching jobs, changing majors - just because you can (or adding another major).
Your twenties shoud be careless (within limits).
Your twenties are for seeking adventures and letting them seek you too.
Your twenties are for making mistakes..
..and learning from them.
Your twenties are for asking questions - tons.
Your twenties are for experimenting with your hair - even if it turns orange.
Your twenties are for raising your voice - finding it and expressing yourself with it.
Your twenties are for dreaming a lot - dream big or go home!
Your twenties are for splurging.
Your twenties are for wardrobe changes - change it up, often.
Your twenties are for being selfish.
Your twenties are for loving yourself - because you're worth it.
Your twenties are for watching full seasons (and reading books) in a couple days and wonder what to do next.
Your twenties are for valuing your family, and friends.
Your twenties are for succeeding.
Your twenties are for failing.
Your twenties are for finding a meaning with your life.
Your twenties are for defining yourself with your own self perceptions.
Your twenties are for learning all the hard lessons.
Your twenties are for working hard.
Your twenties are for growing up.
Your twenties are for taking responsibility.
One day you'll love your twenties for what they were.

» BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE VIEWER
Beauty means different things to different people, but one thing is for certain; it's in the eye of the beholder.
» DARK DAYS ARE COMING
I blame the lack of blogposts on my crazy projects, reports and upcoming exams. As comforting as it is to know that I'm on summer break after my exam next week, I've got way too much that needs to be done before that and it takes all the comfort away - if there was any in the first place. Can't we just fast-forward a few days instead? Now that would've been something..
The picture above describes my study-sessions perfectly (although it was taken a few weeks ago). Cute pens and ice-cold smoothies makes everything ten times better. And I've got a slight obsession with writing everything down on blank papers; great for summarizing a course (could do an entire post about that since it's gotten me through this entire year!).
Best wishes to all you exam-studying beauties!

» PEONIES
There's something about fresh colorful flowers that always pick me up whenever I need to. Just looking at them make me increadible happy! Maybe that's because they're one of my favorite flowers. So majestic, feminine and beautiful - love them!
Flowers, sun and heat - summer is officially here!

» A WEEKEND WITH GORGEOUS CHICAS
I had the most amazing weekend with gorgeous ladies - celebrating my sister and my cousin since their birthdays are two days apart. So we decided to celebrate them together - like old twins (movie reference).
Virgin mojitos, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate meringue goodies and a candy centerpiece were among the things that made their way to our stomaches. Well, not including the cake or the delicious pizzas - totally had way too much food.
The best part? We were in our pj's! (sexy pj's must be added - hello kimonos ;) ) So now I wish that everyone have pj-friendly parties - seriously most comfortable thing in the world!
This weekend was stuffed with parties, late nights and early mornings. Although it was fun, it's about time to get to reality and check the overflowing inbox, haha alright, maybe not overflowing. But it's about time to study for finals - summer is only three weeks away! (Including the wedding and graduation weekends - have I found dresses? No. Last minute - per usual).
I hope you girls had a great weekend and went out in the ah-mazing sun - can we all pause for a moment and re-live those sunny (2) days?

» BLACK AND YELLOW (AND A HINT OF WHITE)
Life's not only black and white, but when you get stuck by a bee in the middle of the night, life suddenly becomes black - or black and yellow. Okay, all drama aside; I got stuck by a bee - is that normal this time of the year?
Without waking up the entire house and neighbourhood, I managed to calm myself down, put ice on it and then kill the stinging monster. I'm very proud.
As I'm fighting the urge of falling asleep for no good reason, I'll finish writing on a post I should've published a week ago - bad blogger? Completely.
Sweet dreams lovely readers (somehow, in my ears, that sounds like something you'd hear in a horror movie)
xx,
Laila
» WAFFLES
I just had brunch with my sister and cousin, which was much needed. Gossip, tea and waffles in PJ's is what Sundays are all about.
Since the weather is gorgeous and the sun is up, we might do something to enjoy these last days of the Easter holiday (I've got more posts coming up; stay tuned haha!).
I hope you all are enjoying your holiday!

» THIS WEEKEND, TAKE TWO
Picture from Instagram
It has been a great weekend filled with greater hang-outs, birthday celebration and shopping - sadly, studying wasn't a priority this weekend.
Life is so much easier and so much better when you're surrounded with great people, who bring out your spontaneous self and make you happy.
Since I don't have any classes today, I'm going to shower, do something nice with my hair (finally!) and have lots of coffee - and make up for the lack of studying.
I hope you girls had a lovely weekend and are having a great week!

» THIS WEEKEND
I had a great weekend - study-free, haha! Sometimes you need those weekends where your books aren't your BFF.
I had a great Saturday spent with lovely girls watching The Voice, Arabic version (yup, I'm obsessed) and a very lazy Sunday, which made a perfect end to a very hectic week. Since I spent the first part of yesterday at Triangeln, I must note that I can't believe how they've completely changed it - it's insane! I haven't been there for ages, so I'm a bit lost about the busstations - but thank God for the license, haha.
Since my class is about to start, I'm simply putting an end to this post here, wishing you all a great start of this week.
The sun is up and it's finally SPRING!
