» FOR THE LOVE OF VITAMINS
Since my insomnia has made a comeback while being sick, I've been having gallons of tea to calm my throat and get my voice back. #bringbackmyvoice
But jokes aside; vitamins in the form of an orange, favorite tea and a movie makes being sick bearable.
Goodnight loves.

» FOR THE LOVE OF FORTUNES
"Good things come to those who wait."
I'm a big believer in working towards or for what you want. Let it be a better job, a better life or a better you. And that's how it is supposed to be, because nothing comes fully served. Even if you happen to be in a not so good place right now, there's always light at the end of the tunnel - which took me a while to realize. Because the experience from whatever it you're going through right now, will take to where you're supposed to be tomorrow.
All it takes is patience.
I am sharing my fortune with you and wishing you a great week.

» FOR THE LOVE OF PROCRASTINATION
I should win an award for procrastination.
Behind every confidence interval (95% ones if you're wondering - let's assume you are) there's time for procrastination.
Do you ever start planning your life when you really should be working towards it (in my case; studying). That's what I'm dealing with right now. Well, that and a bowl of yoghurt and pomegranate seeds - so delicious.
In all honesty though, it's - sometimes - very fun to study. If you've ever taken a statistics course (or chemistry or math for that matter), there's some kind of satisfaction when you finally get the hang of things - just like everything else in life. And I love playing this game of 'how many words or numbers can I fit into one sheet of paper' - you know that things get real when you start doing that. Try it.
Have a great wednesday!

» WHAT'S COOKING, GOOD LOOKING
Putting the cheesy title aside, I'll let you know how yesterday's cooking class went. When I say cooking class, I mean that I went to my auntie's house and she taught me, my sister and B how to make dolma (basically that's stuffed vine leaves).
Did I learn how to cook, you might wonder (technically I'm asking, but hey..). Nope. I can roll them though (the vine leaves) - so that must count.
On another note, they were delicious. Really. So I suggest team work everytime I need/should/will cook.
Forks up for a lovely teamwork.

» NEW YEAR'S DAY
A throwback picture since I'm still in my pj's - don't judge.
I've spent the day with my family, in pj's and everything that comes with it - including hair in a bun - watching YouTube videos. Could this year have a more perfect start?
It's the small things in life that reminds us of what is yet to come, the things that never were and the things that will never be. Knowing that everything is exactly where they belong.
The start of a new year doesn't have to be the time to change our lives. Neither is the start of a new week. If you want to change your life, change it. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year - change it now. Because as Gandhi said,
"Be the change you wish to see in the world" - and your life for that matter.
Still, a new year is exciting.
I don't have many resolutions, I just have one; to take every opertunity that is given to me. No matter what it is, because you never know where the roads might lead you. What is there to lose?
Let's make twenty fifteen our year.

» THE TIME WE SAW ASCIA
Can you see the snow, falling?
It was freezing in Copenhagen on Monday, but we had decided to take the train into the city and shop till we drop the day before - I just had to type that. On Sunday, when we had decided to head to Cph to shop - because let's face it, we didn't find anything in stores here - we learned that Ascia was coming to Denmark. For those of you who don't know her, she's a blogger from Kuwait - and I absolutely love her. And you must be living under a rock. Me and my sister laughed saying that if we would run into her, we would talk.
Going in and out of stores, trying on everything we laid our hands on - and going out with only one shirt, but our failed shopping attempt is another story. In the midst of our seven hour walk and the freezing cold, we crossed roads with Ascia. I stared - like crazy - and told my sister, who also stared like crazy. We were two crazy stare-ers (new word to the Oxford dictionary). And we were all (me, my sister, Ascia and her husband) going the same direction.
Did we talk to her, you might think. No, we didn't.
Mainly because we didn't want to run after her, calling her name with the top of our lungs. That would've been embarrassing - really embarrassing. And because her face was all bundled up in her scarf, and she was walking with her head down, so there was no eye contact. Also because what would we get from saying hi, awkwardly. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her style - and blog for that matter. But I wouldn't run after her just to say hello. I mean I wouldn't try snapping a selfie, because we all know how that would turn out - disaster is a better word to describe it.
I've grown since I was fourteen and literally ran after this singer (whom I don't even listen to anymore) just to get a picture. I still have that picture, and I look like I've been running a marathon prior to that picture - which you could almost say I had. Sad times. And I'm not re-living that again.
So it was freezing in Copenhagen, and we saw Ascia.
And now I've written a full blogpost about it.

» MERRY CHRISTMAS 2.0
Oh, I can spell my name. That was just my instagram name (haha life is exciting).
Today has been great. It started out with a snapchat from my sister (who literally is a few meters away), showing me the FML weather - I had to run to the closest window to check (about half a meter away. Again with the drama). Seriously though, when did the snow start falling?
But on another note, that's a good thing. I mean, global warming, anyone?
We ended up holiday baking with the cousins, and obviously food tasting - fun times, and tons of gossip included. Oh and I forgot to add the driving around to tons of places trying to do the last minute food shopping. Everything was sold out.
That wraps up my day.
Love,
Laila
» MERRY CHRISTMAS
We chose to decorate with the most random things. Gingerbread included. (I totally changed the picture)
I wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year - wow, that sounds so standard.
For the last couple of weeks, I haven't really allowed myself to publish the few (should be added) posts I've written. Mostly because I, sometimes, can come across as a very harsh, judgemental person - with very strong opinions. And I get it; I have strong opinions, which most of the time isn't a great thing. But I believe that - or I'm trying to - when, or if, we use our flaws correctly, they can become an asset. Wow I really sound odd, don't I?
For the upcoming year I can promise you this; I will give you the most raw, unedited version of myself - weird thoughts included. I want my blog to really live up to its name - yup, still lame.
On another note, I really do wish you guys a merry christmas (and obviously a happy new year).
Love,
Laila
Update: snow decided to show up. In case anyone was dreaming of a white christmas - I'd rather dream of a white-beach-palm-tree kind of christmas.
» ALMOND MILK
The difference when adding a filter to your pictures. I'm finally using my camera.
Which one do you prefer?
Good morning!
I woke up feeling inspired to make myself delicious breakfast - it's Friday! And I ended up making semolina pudding (totally googled the name) with almond milk. I've never tried it with almond milk, but it actually turned up good - no difference from regular milk, and it's supposedly better for you.
A lot of studying is what I'm planning to do today, and having tea.
Have a lovely Friday!

» CHAI-FIE
I think I get too happy with the editing programs (iPhone picture)
Get it? Chai selfie = chai-fie. I'm brilliant, I know.
I've been craving chai latte for about a week now, and today I decided to take care of that craving. A big chai latte, please - with cinnamon and cardamom.
Uni has been very hectic - even if I absolutely can't stand lectures (bad habit), it's still overwhelming. Which means that, sadly, I can't make the blog a priority. Hopefully I'll be able to change that and do better planning during christmas break, when the first part of exams are over (next part is after christmas break - so cruel).
For now I'm all about gallons of water, books and Charmed (favorite tv show ever, and I can't study if I'm not doing something else too).
Is there anything you want me to write more about?

» MOONLIGHT
When you try snapping a picture of the moon, it never looks good. The beauty of it can't be captured.
As I've been struggling to fall asleep this week, today was no exception. Instead of tossing and turning, I made it down the stairs (sounds like ten thousand stairs. Fifteen). While I was walking down (fifty thousand), I noticed a blue sheen lighting up my way. Little did I know that the moon was watching over me (drama). So simple, yet so majestic. Beautiful creation.
The moon made my day (night).
And now I shall make another attempt on falling asleep.
Goodnight loves,
Laila
» FIFTY
My daddy turned fifty(!) this weekend! Being one of the most inspirational people in my life, I can't describe the happiness when he walked into his (small) surprise dinner gathering. Due to other things going on in our lives, we decided to keep it small and very last minute, as we planned the whole thing in two days. It was hectic and included a lot of (white) lies to keep the surprise, well, a surprise. Totally worth it.
I've actually - for once - snapped pictures using my camera. But as I'm writing with an intense headache (and an exploding brain), I'll upload those pictures later on this week.
For now, God bless Instagram.

» I CARRY IT IN MY HEART
"I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it
(anywhere I go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)"
- E.E. Cummings
» MOVIE
I spent yesterday with my best friend of twenty(!) years just catching up. It may have included singing in the car, gossiping and a movie.
We ended up watching Annabelle after deciding back and forth if we should watch Mockingjay or not (we've got issues). But since we both practically hated (or strongly disliked) the third book of the Hunger Games thrilogy, we decided not to - we read the books at our bookclub consisting of four people and a librarian, us included (Yup, we're geeks). And can anyone tell me what's up with splitting the last book into two parts? It's becoming such an annoying trend!
Can you tell how excited I am? I love popcorn.
I hope you guys had a great Friday!

» STONE AGE
My Sunday was all about endless studying, burnt pancakes and blasting the best of 90's in the car - singing included, of course.
That made me remember back in the days when you would come home from school and the only thing you did (after finishing homework) was asking people on (hold on) MSN if they could send you songs. Do you guys remember that? The good old Stone Age. I remember once when my friend sent me a movie - can you guess how long it took for it to be fully sent? Or when you'd send and recieve music via Bluetooth.
Me and my nostalgic thoughts will stop procrastinating and dive into the ocean of papers on my bed. Fun times.

» JOURNAL
» FRIENDS
Having friends is a blessing. Having great friends is so much more.
Yesterday we celebrated (read: movie marathon-ing) my friends 21st with delicious cake (featured in the photo above) - happy belated bday!
Today, I have been reading through old blogposts. OMG is how I would describe them. I must have been the biggest weirdo on this planet - seriously! I am actually considering taking them down, but then it's hilarious to go through them and see how I've changed over these four(!) years.
What do you guys think?
xox,
Laila
» CHAOS
I've had so much going on this past week, so I haven't been able to update you guys. To be fair, I don't blog every day, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.
But I'll be working on changing the layout and writing blog posts every other day or a couple times a week - I won't make any promises though.
Now I'm off to editing a video (or trying to.. tricky technology) - if it turns out okay, I might upload it here!
Love,
Laila
» BLACK AND WHITE
It doesn't get better than this. A black and white movie, cinnamon tea and red nailpolish. Oh and a no-study day.
Goodnight beauties!
