» 2016 - LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD

2016 was an odd year, to say the least, full of wtf moments. But it was also the year of spontaneity, the year of making new friendships, and letting go of old ones. It was definitely a good year for me, despite the wtf moments. I got my first ever job as a molecular biologist (!) at a company that I absolutely love, went to my first ever stand-up show (Kevin Hart's What Now tour), started working on my thesis, got in a bunch of travelling to really cool places - Hello, Iran?! And Italy, and England. Went to the Capital for my bff's baby shower. Attended a bunch of weddings - one in Iran!
I basically fell in love with a bunch of new places, and learned that there are two ends of a spectrum, two sides of a coin - ok, you get it. But it was a year of growth, more so than previous years.

Most of my favorites moments of 2016 are not captured with pretty Instagram pictures or even snaps. It's all the great moments that happen, but you realize that you don't need to capture to prove. It's the long-ass FaceTime conversations about everything and nothing, the long drives to your friends house in the middle of the night, the summer road trips to the best hiking spot ever. It's the moments spent in top buns and jogging pants, the makeup-free days.

I learned to appreciate the small things, and for that I will be forever grateful.
I welcome 2017 with open arms. May this year be equally as amazing.
Let's do this!

» GINGERBREAD HOUSE + NYE

I basically forgot to take pictures of the Gingerbread house in time, and only remembered to do so when the house completely (or partly) collapsed.

I'm currently writing with a face mask on my face, and nails that I'm halfway through painting..
Can you guys believe that this year is almost over? It's crazy!
I'll write a post that sums up this year, which had been an amazing year for me. But I'm not sure if I can post it today. So stay tuned.

Have a lovely day you guys!

» TRAVEL DIARIES: WHEN IN STOCKHOLM

Since one of my closest friends, that happens to live in Stokholm, is having a baby soon, a babyshower was obviously on the list.
So I went to Stockholm over the weekend two weekends ago, right before the big handin of the thesis - LOL!
It was a lovely weekend, and the babyshower was really well-organized. Look at the cute favors!

Apart from attending her babyshower, which was the main reason of my visit, we went to a few places in Stockholm, slept for 7 hours (in total over the course of 2 nights) and just talked a bunch of bs.
I also managed to finish my report (at the aiport!!), and sent it in that same day. Talk about accomplishments!

Stay tuned for a bunch of upcoming posts.

» CHRISTMAS EVE

Merry Christmas everyone!
Today we literally woke up, got into the car, and drove for 3 hours to Gothenburg to visit family. Hence this picture of the tree from 2014 (!).

We had a lovely time in Gothenburg and with the family, and had lots of food and chocolate cake that my sister baked - too bad I don't have pictures to share.
But the roads! So weird to drive there - the roads are a bit odd. And the way back home was horrible because of the darkness - pitch black. But we made it back safely.

How did you guys spend Christmas Eve?

» THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Does anyone else also get super excited when you see a bunch of gifts under
the tree? Yaaaas!
Isn't the cake adorable?

For the past 6 (!) years, me and my friends have had a mini Christmas celebration. It's a tradition we all look forward to each year.

This year we celebrated with home-made pizza and potato salad, and obviously delicious cake.
I got a bunch of lovely presents, including a really cute picture of all of us in Rome. Seriously adorable! Need to share it here.

» FOR THE LOVE OF FLOWERS

I'm trying to finish my thesis before deadline - the struggle is real. But I thought why not write a blog post while I'm at it. So hi guys!

Let's have a recap.
Monday - Christmas lunch with work. We even got presents, so cute!
Then I went shopping (for gifts) with my mom - always shopping last minute..

Tuesday - didn't leave the house. PJ's all day (obviously writing my thesis..).

Wednesday (technically yesterday) - I left the house today (=accomplishment), and went to the gym (=accomplishment x2). I had to text my sister to have her tell me to go. Clearly, I'm highly motivated.
I also made the worst pasta ever. It's bean pasta, and it tasted like cardboard.
Also, I've been playing my old playlists on YouTube. Am I the only one who still doesn't have Spotify?

Tomorrow (technically today) will hopefully be more exciting, so stay tuned for more interesting posts.
Also, should I write the blog posts in Swedish too?
Goodnight.

» FOR THE LOVE OF SLEEPING IN

3 TRÖJOR från ZALANDO

1. | 2. | 3.

Picture this: it's 7 am and your alarm keeps going off. You don't want to wake up, so you end up having only 10 minutes to get ready. What do you do?
If you're like me, you'll end up grabbing the same cozy sweater that you've already worn to death, or channel your inner demon and wear all black.

Since it's winter, and I'm either wearing black or pink, I thought that you guys might like these three shirts (from Zalando) for days when you just need to get out the door ASAP, while still looking a bit presentable. Best part? STUDENT DISCOUNT!

This is a sponsored post.

» PINK BACTERIA

What do you guys think about that pretty pink plate?
I love it!

Yesterday was my last day of uni until January (yay!). But I have to do a lot of independent studies for the coming weeks because the first draft of my thesis needs to be submitted in about a week (not so yay).
What's my thesis about, you might wonder.
*Drum roll*
Protein-protein interactions, studied in vivo.
The title is super boring, so I will have to change it to make it sound more fun - which it is (fun)! I love it!
I could do more science-y type of posts here if you guys want.

The best part about studying from home? Chilling in your PJ's all day.
Downside: procrastination. Lots of it.

Also, I'm looking for a new camera since mine broke down. Any tips?
Have a lovely Thursday!

» LONDON, UNI, LIFE UPDATE

Hi guys! I haven't blogged in a really long time, and I actually miss it. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate that you're still checking in, even though I'm not blogging. Thank you!

Let's start with a life update, shall we?
I've been so busy lately with work and uni - I'm finally doing my thesis, which is crazy! I can't believe that I'll be graduating soon. As for work, it's also been a bit hectic, but very fun. And I went to my first ever work-related Christmas party last week. Talk about setting the mood for this month. What else? I went to London (crazy and super fun), been online shopping like crazy, and looking for good cameras since mine broke down. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I've been thinking that since it's December, almost Christmas, and almost 2017 (!), I would blog every other day or so. Maybe do a giveaway to celebrate the blog? We'll see how that goes. Let me know what you guys want to read more about.

Let's do this!
